I know a lot of people are scared right now, and with good reason. But I believe we are at the tail end of this horrible Trump era, and that it may be over sooner than we think.
First, let me start by saying that I’m not trying to diminish anyone’s fear. They are still in power, and they can do real damage before they are stopped. They will lash out in wild, brutal attempts to hold power, and frighten people into submission.
Their entire plan from the beginning was a political blitzkrieg. And at first, it seemed like it was working.
In no time at all, we saw the federal bureaucracy gutted and made meaningless.
We saw the billionaire tech CEOs become sycophants to power.
We saw foundational institutions betray their own values and patrons by doing the wannabe king’s bidding.
But the institutions they took over are meaningless if they don’t also make the people surrender.
And we are not surrendering.
Their scheme hinged on our entire population capitulating to their demands quickly. Threats of military intervention in major cities were designed to strike fear into people, forcing us to cower.
⚠️ The terror was intentional.
⚠️ The overkill tactics were on orders.
⚠️ The unprofessionalism was by design.
⚠️ The belief was we would kneel.
We did not.
In fact, we keep getting stronger.
Polls continually show Trump has lost all support beyond the MAGA base.
This has been verified at the ballot box several times with last November’s progressive victories, and all the special elections we’ve celebrated since then.
Now, I know that many of you fear the midterms won’t matter, or won’t happen, or won’t be honored. I get it.
I’m planning more pieces on this, but the short answer to all these fears is activation and voting.
We now have the numbers in terms of people who want to see this all end. What we need to do now is convert that into political power.
Anything they may try with the elections can only work in races that are close. But if we are able to overwhelm them, and win by historic margins like the ones we are seeing now, then nothing in their toolkit will work.
Minneapolis brought Trump to his knees.
Now we all must step up and finish this.
